A lot of people that are not involved in the crafting world might not really understand all the differences between the traditional mini Christmas light sets and craft mini lights. Craft lights won't have an end connector. What that means is that the smaller strings will only have a stackable male plug and instead of a female plug it will end with a bulb. This will make projects such as, lighting wine bottles and glass blocks much easier.

Craft mini light sets will have much fewer bulbs. You will see bulb counts from 10 to 35. They come in small counts because if you are lighting smaller projects, such as a wreath or centerpiece you won't want to overwhelm it with so many mini light bulbs.

Traditional mini Christmas lights come with much wider spacing than craft light strings. This will cause a problem because there will be too much wire in your small projects and it will make it seem too cramped or overwhelmed.

For these reasons, craft mini lights will be the best for lighting small projects. Use them for centerpieces, glass blocks, wine bottles, light canvases and much more. They will work perfectly and won't overwhelm your designs.

6 Uses for Craft Lights

There are tons of uses for small mini light strings that are for more than just the holidays. You can make crafts for other holidays, weddings, special events, parties and more. With all the options for colors, counts and wire colors you will be able to match all types of color schemes and decorations to perfectly light up the occasion.

Wine bottle lights are an easy and inexpensive to make craft, most the material you will need you might even have around the house. Drill a hole in the back, put your craft lights in the hole, leaving the plug out. Decorate the bottle and that is it. You have a great  little light to put in your favorite room in your home or use them to make centerpieces at a wedding.

Decoarting centerpieces with craft lights is a great way to light up a special occasion or party. If you are having arrangements of fake flowers or small jars for a more rustic event, try adding some LED craft lights. They will look great and blend perfectly to give your table decor a little ambient lighting.

Canvas lights are great for lighting a kid's room or making for weddings. You can make small holes with a screwdriver that will allow you to put small LED craft lights in to make a design. You can also make the holes a little random if you are using it for a kids room or just to have around your home.

Lanterns are something that can be used for rustic weddings or just to light up your front porch. Find old lanterns and wrap up some short craft light sets  and put them inside. After you plug them up they will look great for a soft glowing light.

Summer time is when the DIY projects start in full swing. We like to give you ideas for accent lighting that will work in or outdoors during the warm summer months. Craft lights are one of the easiest ways to light small crafty projects that will last for season after season.

Lanterns are a perfect summer light, but have you ever thought that it might be fun to use lanterns that won't craft mini lights and lining your porch or walkway. All you will have to do is place the lights inside the to of the lantern and run the cord out to the outlet. These would even work great for lining the aisle at an outdoor summer wedding ceremony.

Summer wreaths with lights are great for making your front door more bright and inviting. Try using wicker wreaths and battery LED craft lights. This way you can add whatever type of decorations you would like. If there is a patriotic holiday approaching, you could add some burlap and American flags. This will really show your American spirit. If you are live near the beach or just love the beach feel, try using sea shells and ribbons in pale blue. Or if you like to have a wreath all summer with no theme. try out the letter of your last name and ribbon in your favorite colors. Any of these options and plenty of others would be great for adding a little festivity to your front door.

Tine can lights are another way to light up your warm summer nights. All you have to have for this project is tine cans, craft lights and spray paint. You can poke holes in them with a screwdriver to make a pattern or just randomly. Spray paint them to match your outdoor decor or to match the color scheme of a party. Then all that is left, putting in craft lights. The light will glow and give great soft lighting for an evening party or lounging in the backyard.

Lighted LED Canvas

Lighting canvases can light up events, your home or even weddings and parties. These really are pretty simple to create with just a few tips. Now, we know that a lot of people have seen this very idea on Pinterest and we just wanted to share our own take on the project.

The first step of many projects is getting all your materials together. For this project you really won't need very many items. You will have to have a canvas, a string of LED lights in the color and count of your choice, a screwdriver or some other instrument to poke holes through the canvas and paint if you want to paint your canvas before you put your lights in.

The next step is making an outline.You can make an outline on a sheet of paper or even directly onto the back of the canvas. This is just to be a guide for when you make holes. You can make them in a design or you can make them random. That part is up to you. Just be sure you know how many lights are on the string and the spacing between bulbs.

Now you can actually start your project. If you want to paint your canvas, then you should begin there. Paint your canvas and be sure to let it dry well. You should probably even let it dry overnight. That way you can be sure it won't be sticky or get smudged in the process of poking the holes.

After you have made an outline, painted and figured out the bulbs spacing as well as count, you can start punching holes in the back of the canvas. Line up your paper outline if you made one or just start punching one hole at a time directly through the canvas. Following right behind with placing a bulb through each hole.

The last step is just plugging up your lights and you are done. You can now just sit back and enjoy.

Wine Bottle Lamp with Craft Lights

The craft world continues to grow every day and one of the favorites in this community is is the wine bottle craft light lamps. They are easy to create and fun to decorate. We will give you a  few short tips and tricks for lighting up a gorgeous wine bottle lamp.

You need to start with cleaning your wine bottles. All you need to do is soak the bottles of choice in some warm water with a little soap or even oxy-clean. This will make sure the wine is all cleaned out of the inside and it will make the labels slide off. After they are all clean, be sure to let them dry very well. I would even suggest leaving them out to dry over night.

Now you can get prepared to drill your wine bottles. Be sure you have the right drill bit to cut through glass, such as a diamond bit. You also want to be sure that you have something like a jig that will keep your bottle perfectly still for the drilling process. After you have all your supplies you can start drilling. Measure your hole and add a little WD-40 for lubricant. Then you can drill away.

Now that you have drilled your hole, you can add your LED or incandescent craft lights. Be sure that you have light sets that only have one male plug. Then you just fish the lights up through the hole that you drilled.

Your choice of lights depends on personal preference and the occasion that you are making your wine bottle lamp for. You can pick from a wide selection of colors and spacing as well as green and white wire colors.

And the last step is decorating your wine bottle light. You can paint them, add grapes and ivy and so much more. the The possibilities are endless. Get creative and have fun!

This blog is going to give you an overview of the massive benefits that LED light strings have and offer some insight into switching to them for those who make craft for fun and for profit!

Our LED Craft light strings are a 20 light string that feature small Wide Angle 5mm LED bulbs. These bulbs are ideal for crafts because of their large viewing angle and high brightness. Sets have a 3 inch bulbs spacing with a 36 inch lead wire (plug to first bulb) and are approximately 4.75 feet long so they are the perfect length for the majority of projects. Sets only pull 2.4 watts per set (Mini Craft lights use 9.6 watts a string) and have incredible bulb life.

So let's break down some of the big advantages of LED Craft Lights:

• Incredibly long life! Incandescent bulbs are rated around 2,500 hours where LED bulbs are rated around 50,000 hours.
• No heat! Incandescent bulbs use a filament to generate light, which in turn makes heat. LEDs are completely cool to the touch.
• Molded in bulbs. While some dislike this feature it helps ensure that lights don't come loose while decorating and which makes the sets much more durable. 
• Pure colors! Incandescent lights are essentially dyed on the outside of the glass and while the colors do look great, LED craft lights actually have bulbs that generate the desired color for true colors that really pop.
• Small bulbs! Mini lights are by no means large but the small Wide Angle 5mm bulbs and small sockets make decorating a breeze.
• Plastic bulbs! Ever had to manhandle a glass bulb and POP broken glass? Not a worry with LED sets. 
• Low Price! Probably the greatest thing about LED Craft light strings is their price they are only a few dollars more than their incandescent equivalent. Less hassle, long life, no heat for a few more dollars? A worthy investment.

So I hope that helps give you some better insight into the benefit of making the switch! You can offer a better light string/craft product for a minimal increase in price and you won't have issues with customers of the downfalls of incandescent craft lights.

A Guide to Craft Lights

We carry a wide selection of, what most people call, craft lights. With so many to choose from, it can be difficult to decide what is right for you. We thought we would give you a little run down of some the different terms for these small mini light strings that might help in your decision making process.

No End Connector or NEC - This means, you cannot plug sets end to end with a female plug. You will find these stings only have a male plug on one end and the other will end with a bulb. This way you can put these strings in gloss blocks, wine bottles, centerpieces and more without worrying about a big plug hanging down.

Long Lead and Short Lead - This is about the length from the male plug to the first bulb. Depending on the type of craft project you will be using your craft lights in, will determine the lead length you want. The long lead is usually about 36" and the short lead is about 17". The long lead is usually better for bottles and blocks. While the short lead might be better suited for projects like centerpieces.

Shunted Bulbs - You will find that our craft light strings will stay lit even if one bulb goes out. This is because the bulbs are shunted and will continue to put power through to the other bulbs even if there is one that is no longer burning.

Close Bulb Spacing - This will allow you the have more light in a smaller area. Which is just what you want when you are making crafts with mini lights.
